Most recent 2 song "Desecration" EP put out by DC death metal champs Genocide Pact. Two more old school DM tracks that build on the sound of the demo, however this recording benefits from a fuller production. I scored the green variant, which was limited to 50(?) Bad Teeth Recordings delivers again. Looking forward to the upcoming LP from these guys.

Sovereign
Seeing as how I have this blog labeled as a "hardcore/punk/METAL record collecting blog, I figured I'd post about a recent death metal release. Here we have the debut LP from Finnish death metal band Corpsessed, "Abysmal Thresholds." Split release between Dark Descent Records in the US and Me Saco Uno Ojo Records in the UK. Corpsessed play a true to form style of death metal that pays homage to OG Finnish bands Convulse, Abhorrence, Demigod, etc. Killer debut LP from these guys.

Smell the Bacon
The influence that Madball has had on NYHC (and hardcore in general) can't be understated. Whether you love them or don't listen to them ever, you can't deny their importance. As for me, I'm not a die-hard fan of any sort, but the first EP "Ball of Destruction" is among my favorite late 80's (almost 90's) NYHC recordings. Featuring most of Agnostic Front at the time with Roger Miret's brother on vocals, it's basically an AF release. It even features several AF songs. So this is more of an AF release with a few member changes than anything, and it's great.

Bitter Sweet
Debut EP from the UK's Blind Authority, "No Future." Self Acceptance Records. Following an excellent demo this is six more tracks of the same Think I Care worship. Very good stuff on display here. This honestly does sound like it could be a long lost mid-era TIC recording, and that's not at all a bad thing (to me at least). Pick this up if you are into TIC and have the opportunity to do so, you won't be disappointed.

Mind Restraint
After what seems like a hundred delays, and several years of no output, here is the latest offering from Boston's Step Forward. Comprised of the usual suspects this is some raging hardcore with influences from the old Boston and NY scenes. Truthfully, if you aren't familiar with this band's sound at this point you're probably not interested in them. I was able to get the limited clear variant when Painkiller put up orders for this 7". As expected, this is top notch stuff.
When Painkiller put this EP up for order they also put up their press of the newest Violent Reaction EP, "Dead End." Since I already posted about this EP twice I didn't think it needed its own post. However I will mention that this cover/art/layout is my favorite of the three. I also scored a(n ugly) color copy of this. I wish mine looked more like Sean's over at Skull Fucked. Oh well, at least it's a color copy.
